Twenty-three horses have been nominated to the $150,000 Spencer Childers California Breeders Championship Handicap, which is one of the marquee events in next Saturday's California Breeders Champions Night. The nominees include last year's Spencer Childers winner Soul of Silence, Vessels Maturity winner Frankie Shoots, sophomore standouts Fighter On Fire and Magic Show Czech, 550-yard track record holder El Corona Ariero, and 2007 El Primero Del Ano Derby winner Not A Full Moon. Fourteen different trainers nominated at least one horses to next week's outstanding race at 400 yards.

Magic Show Czech has been nominated to a couple of different stakes races on Champions Night, including the Spencer Childers Championship Handicap.

In addition to the Spencer Childers, Champions Night will feature the running of the $500,000 Governor's Cup Futurity and the $140,000 Governor's Cup Derby. Owner Ed Allred will be represented by four horses in the Derby, while Hard Hitting, owned by a 12-person partnership, headlines the Futurity. The Matron stakes for 3-year-olds fillies and mares will be headed by Clydette Mia, who recently posted a 300-yard track record when winning the Easy Date Handicap in :15.17. Clydette Mia is undefeated in five starts this season. Forgive Him, winner of the La Primera Del Ano Derby, and multiple stakes winner Gottobes Cat are among the other possible contenders.

The Jens L. List Jr. Memorial has attracted several of the aforementioned top 3-year-olds such as Fighter On Fire, Magic Show Czech and Forgive Him, plus Early Morning Bite, who ran in the Golden State Million, Ruidoso and Rainbow futurities last year. The Jens L. List attracted 23 nominations. The 550-Yard Sophomore Stakes has 10 horses nominated including ROI Racing's Cuyler Bay, who won his last start with a tremendous rally that saw him go from seventh to first. Cuyler Bay was claimed for $12,500 in that race and is now trained by Jim Hanson. Loved Her First, a finalist in the Kindergarten Futurity earlier this year, and Another Wise Lady, a two-time winner this season, are among the 11 horses nominated to the California Breeders Freshman Stakes. Ten Oclock Scholar, an experienced Grade 1 performer, heads the Sprint Stakes nominees, while Wortherweightingold is one of 10 nominated to the Debutante Stakes.
