     JERRY FRANCO (Guce) overcame pace pressure in last win at higher level and has been no worse than second in last six tries. MOUNTAIN YODLER (Navarro) is best suited on a dirt oval and scored maiden win over the ½-mile Ferndale surface last year. BIGBARI (Russell) takes big class drop for first start in 15 weeks and stretch runner has quick recent Fairplex work tab.
2ND RACE: Purse $8,000, thoroughbreds, claiming, fillies and mares, 3 year olds and up, 4 ½ furlongs.
    HOT LIST (Charlton) figures to make the lead in this paceless field and looked sharp when victorious in first local try at this level one month ago. NEZI O’S GOLD (Guce) was blocked behind horses into the stretch of last fourth-place try and lands leading rider for new barn. TONY’S PINGUINI’S (Roman) was distant third vs. prior $2,500 winner Big G Secret Crab in last and outfinished recent $2,500 winner Shamrock Bay two outs ago.
3RD RACE: Purse $7,000, thoroughbreds, maiden claiming, fillies and mares, 3 year olds and up, 4 ½ furlongs.
     MARINE PLACE (Charlton) makes her debut with string of seven Santa Anita drills since February 17 and is by California Chrome’s sire. SISTER VOE (Roman) was bumped off stride in the hind quarters at the start of last runnerup try and has improved with each out. NEVER AFRAID (Guce) took up sharply when losing his path after getting bumped solidly at the start of last fifth-place try as the 3-5 favorite.
4TH RACE: Purse $8,500, thoroughbreds, claiming, 3 year olds and up, 4 ½ furlongs.
     ERNIE OWL (Gallardo) lost a tough nose photo in comeback vs. wire-to-wire winner who was posting seventh victory over past 18 starts and beat stronger twice last year at Santa Anita. FROM HERE TO THERE (Gomez) found best stride too late in last third-place try and finished with a rush in prior win over recent $5,000 first-place finisher Country Hero. AUGSBURG (Guce) caught a paceless field in last win vs. easier $2,500 field and has won nearly 50 percent of his nine starts.

     PINK BERRETA (Huerta) lugged in steadily early and showed big strides late when posting strong 12.0 drill for debut. WALKIN THRU ICE (Sanchez) broke nicely in improved second drill after breaking slow in first drill when still outworking rival. HOT ROCKING (DeAlba) worked on even terms with another rival in three-team 12.3 gate drill for debut when moving well late after drifting in early.
6TH RACE: Purse $5,000, maiden claiming, 3 year olds and up, 330 yards.
     JESS MR CORONA (C Mendez) lugged in steadily throughout before leveling past the wire in fourth-place comeback at shorter distance. BRADFORD BABE (Suarez) was improved second vs. class-dropping winner in last after bucking in debut when unseating rider near the wire. SECRETS IN HER IZE (DeAlba) moved well late as usual in last third-place try when lightly bumped from both sides early while not quick into stride.
7TH RACE: Purse $7,035, maidens, 2 year olds, 300 yards.
     VIENTO NEGRO (Valenzuela) accelerated nicely midway and finished with big strides in strong 12.1 drill for debut. HOW AND WHY (Huerta) reached out well late when lugging in ward while working on even terms with foe in promising 12.3 drill for bow. SYMBOL OF FREEDOM (C Mendez) was urged at intervals midway and unleashed nice stride in 12.3 drill for bow when best in three-team set.
8TH RACE: Purse $20,000, James S Smith Memorial Handicap, 3 year olds, 350 yards.
     SPIRIT LEADER (Sanchez) ran nicely in last two runnerup tries vs. 2013 Los Al Two Million runnerup Viva Mi Corazon and is well drawn. MR ITS COUNTRY TIME (Valenzuela) was only .05 behind top pick in last fifth-place try after earning 99 Trackmaster figure in prior trial win. ANOTHER STORM (Peinado) is back at best distance and deadheated for third with recent stakes winner Time For Jesse Lee in last.
