Trainer Chris O’Dell enjoyed a memorable night on Saturday at Los Alamitos, as the trainer saddled a career best four winners on the night. O’Dell’s grand slam featured three wins with Quarter Horses plus a Thoroughbred victory. His three Quarter Horse wins came with Francisco Rubio aboard. The jockey also had four riding wins on the evening.

“It was a fun night,” O’Dell said. “I’ve won three in one day before, but four is a new record for me. We knew that we had a couple of good chances to win races. I wasn’t sure if we could win the Thoroughbred race in the first, but jockey Ramon Guce did a great job and the horse (Fabulous Fashion) came flying at the end.”

Sky Chase Farm, TNIP, LLC, VIP Farms and Drew Couto own Fabulous Fashion.

O’Dell was in fashion for the rest of the night, as he became a very popular figure in the winner’s circle thoroughout the nine-race card. The trainer secured the early double with Pirate Stables’ Dynasty Now after winning the conditioned claiming event at 300 yards. O’Dell charge, Tiny Flying Corona, then came up short in the $13,600 allowance in the fourth, crossing the wire fourth place, but the trainer was back in the winner's circle with the 2-year-olds Undercover Kid for owners Regent Builders Inc. in the sixth race and with Parsons Ranch’s Corona Rojo (on the left) in the seventh. Rubio rode Undercover Kid and Corona Rojo and he also piloted the winner of the aforementioned allowance with Jack and Leslie Hale’s Royal Regard.

“At first I thought that we had let one get away in the fourth with Tiny Flying Corona,” O’Dell said. “But then I realized that there was no way we were going to beat (Royal Regard). Flying Corona ran a pretty good race, but the winner was just too tough. The last two races we knew we had good chances to win. They ended up being the favorites and it was nice to come through. I was telling my son on the way home how much team work it takes to win races. It’s nice when you see it all come together.”

O’Dell has enjoyed many magical nights at Los Alamitos in the past, as he trained the likes of multiple champion Catchmeinyourdreams and Grade 1 winner Terrific Synergy just mention a few. Yet, it was on this Saturday night that O’Dell had his best night ever in terms of winner’s circle trips.
