Ronald Skeen and Fawna Knight’s Front And Center posted a half-length victory over Go Man Go Handicap participant Stel Heights to win the running of the 550-yard Pink Ribbon allowance event in Saturday’s fourth race at Los Alamitos. The runner-up in last year’s Jens List Memorial Stakes, Front And Center earned $7,700 while improving to four wins in 21 starts. Ridden by Tony Guymon, the Walk Thru Fire gelding covered the distance in :27.70.
The Pink Ribbon was part of the Betting On A Cure For Breast Cancer Night at the Races with the Susan G. Komen Los Angeles. The event raised funds to provide the medically underserved and uninsured in Los Angeles County with crucial breast health services.
The evening also included the pony riders at Los Alamitos participating in the “Decorate Your Ride” contest. Dannielle L'heureux, who finished second in the contest last year with her gray pony Mazepan, won this year’s Decorate Your Ride. Adriana Aceves and her pony, Playboy, finished second. All the pony riders wore Betting On A Cure pink shirts on Betting On A Cure Night. Led by starter Gary Brinson, the starting gate crew also supported the evening by wearing the Betting On A Cure shirts. For more info call 714-820-2690.
