There were no single night record pools were posted in the popular Los Alamitos Pick Fours this past racing week, but the racing action did feature some of the biggest average pools ever recorded for a single week of racing at the Orange County track. The average handle in the early Pick Four during the week of March 17-19 was $157,837 per night, which the highest average for a single week in 2017. The figure is also the second highest of all-time at Los Alamitos, bettered only by the average early Pick Four pool of $162,207 set during the weekend of the La Primera Del Ano Derby and El Primero Del Ano Derby final back on April 1-3, 2016.
In the Late Pick Four, Los Alamitos enjoyed an average pool of $114,473 per night last week, which is the third highest ever for a single week here. The all-time record $116,421 was set on the weekend of the La Primera and El Primero Del Ano Derby trials on March 10-12, 2017. For the entire week, a combined total of $816,932 was wagered in the Early and Late Pick Fours at Los Alamitos on March 17-19. That’s the third highest figure ever for a single week here. The combined record total for a single week here in the Pick Fours is the $823,470 wagered on April 1-3, 2016.
