      There have been some exciting 2-year-olds working in the morning at Los Alamitos Race Course. Here’s a brief rundown of some of the top young runners that lit up the clock over the past few days:

 

THURSDAY, MARCH 29

 

Jimbosecret (Oklahoma-bred colt by No Secrets Here and out of Rare Encore) posted the bullet 12:10 drill of the morning while outworking RD On Fire from the outside post for trainer Roberto Dominguez. His dam, Rare Encore, won the Grade 3 Aurora Derby and Grade 3 Cherry Creek Futurity both held at Arapahoe Park. She produced Tsunami Splash, a winner of $101,525 and a finalist to the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity, Grade 1 Los Alamitos Winter Derby, and Grade 1 Southern California Derby.

 

Ms Ko (California-bred filly by Corona Cartel and out of Whatta Knockout) worked from the inside post in a time of :12.2 for trainer Ricardo Guillen. Her dam won the Anaheim Handicap and Secret Card Handicap in 2010 earned $65,588 in her career. Whatta Knockout was also third to the outstanding 2009 AQHA champion aged mare Stylish Jess BR in the 2011 Charger Bar Handicap at 400 yards.

 

Bookofmatches (California-bred filly by Walk Thru Fire and out of Separtini) covered the distance in :12.20 while outworking Capitol Grille from the outside post for trainer John Cooper. Her granddam produced California Breeders Sprint Stakes winner Ronsepi.  

 

Capitol Grille (California-bred filly by Walk Thru Fire and out of Ruths Chris) covered the distance in :12.3 from the inside post when outworked by  Bookofmatches for Cooper. Capitol Grill is a half-sister to Black Fryday, the runner-up to KVN Corona in the El Primero Del Ano Derby last Saturday night. Black Fryday also finished fifth in the Grade 1 Golden State Million Futurity last year.

 

The Divas Dynasty (Texas-bred filly by Corona Cartel and out of Kates Dynasty) worked :12.3 from the inside post for trainer Paul Jones. Her dam is the outstanding Jerry Windham-bred Kates Dynasty, the AQHA champion 2-year-old filly in 2013. Kates Dynasty won the Grade 1 Texas Classic Futurity and also won her trials to the Ruidoso Futurity and All American Futurity and Derby. She earned $572,882 in her career. Her half-brother is One Mighty Eagle, who ran second in her trial to the All American Futurity at 440 yards last year.

 

RD On Fire (California-bred colt by Walk Thru Fire and out of Fames Easy) was outworked by Jimbosecrets when covering the distance in :12.3 from the inside post for Dominguez. His dam has been a tremendous producer and her foals include multiple stakes winner Stel Easy, and Miss Kittys Bar Bet, who ran second to Terrific Energy in the 2009 Charger Bar Handicap and was third in both the Ed Burke and Kindergarten Futurities. Fames Easy is also the mother of Grade 1 finalists The One I Am, Ynot Bar, Dont Dink With Me, etc.

 

SATURDAY, MARCH 31

 

Fast Amanda Rose (California-bred filly by Fast Prize Cartel and out of Eyesontheprice) had the bullet :12.10 drill from the inside post for trainer Jesus Nunez. Her female family goes back to the great blue-hen mare Harems Choice, the dam of 1991 Grade 1 All American Futurity winner and AQHA champion 2-year-old colt Royal Quick Dash, 1998 Grade 1 Ed Burke Memorial Futurity winner and AQHA champion 2-year-old colt First Sovereign, 2003 Grade 1 Los Alamitos Million Futurity winner A Regal Choice, 2010 Grade 1 Southern California Derby Harems Last Dash, $98,220 winner First Rate Choice, etc.  

 

Pull The Trigger (California-bred gelding by Stel Corona and out of What Fire) worked :12.2 from the inside post for trainer Scott Willoughby. Her dam qualified to both the La Primera Del Ano Derby and Governor’s Cup Derby in 2010. Pull The Trigger’s granddam is AB What A Runner, a three-time AQHA champion and earner of $1,342,389 with wins in the Grade 1 All American Futurity in 2002, Grade 1 Mildred Vessels Memorial Handicap in 2003, and Grade 1 Charger Bar Handicap in 2004.

 

TUESDAY, APRIL 3

 

Quick To Royalty (Utah-bred filly by Favorite Cartel and out of GM Silver Dreams) had the bullet :12.10 drill when outworking Provodnikov from the outside post for trainer Paul Jones. Steve McIntyre is the co-owner of this filly and also the breeder of GM Silver Dreams, who earned $27,203 in her racing career.

 

Monster Hand (California-bred colt by Walk Thru Fire and out of Remember Me Rose) bested workmate Feisty Man when covering the distance in :12.20 from the inside post for Jones. Her dam is Remember Me Rose, a Grade 1 stakes winner of $820,895. Monster Hand is a full brother to 2017 Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity finalist Remember The Rose. He’s also a half-brother to Grade 1 finalists Remember To Dash and The Revenant.

 

Provodnikov (California-bred colt by Favorite Cartel and out of Separate Tac) was outworked by Quick To Royalty :12.1 to :12.3 when working from the inside post for Jones. His dam was second in the 2006 Rainbow Derby and also qualified to the 2005 Ruidoso Futurity. Separate Tac won her trial to the 440-yard All American Derby. Provodnikov is a half-brother of stakes winner Attack The Cartel.   

 

Feisty Man (New Mexico-bred colt by Chicks Regard and out of Perfect Sevens) was outworked by Monster Hand when drilling in :12.30 from the outside post for Jones. His dam earned $27,001 and was a Grade 3 futurity finalist.

 

Tempting Delight (Indiana-bred filly by Tempting Dash and out of Miss Inseprable) worked evenly with Paddys Princess in :12.40 for trainer Juan Aleman. Filly’s female family is from the breeding stock of Gwendolyn Eaves and her second dam is A Delightful Legacy, who ran fourth in the 2003 Los Alamitos Million Futurity.   

 

Jess My Joy (Texas-bred filly by Mr Jess Perry and out of First Prize Joy) worked :12.4 from the inside post for trainer Elena Andrade. Her female family goes back to First Prize Rose, the dam of 1987 AQHA World Champion First Down Dash, and the family of top runners First Carolina, First Prize Robin, Fast First Prize, Heza Fast Dash, and First Prize Perry.
