Los Alamitos Race Course had its best week ever in Pick Four wagering on April 1 through 3. The track set numerous Pick Four records starting with the highest ever average in its early Pick Four of $131,664 per night.
Last week's early Pick Four pools included the third highest single night figure of all-time when $135,326 was bet on Sunday, April 3. This was also the highest ever pool for a Sunday. The early Pick Four pool on Saturday, April 2 was also the track’s fifth highest pool ever of $133,522. The huge Saturday and Sunday figures led to another record sum of $268,848 for back-to-back nights. Friday’s action featured a pool of more than $126,000 making the total money wagered in the early Pick 4 last week nearly $400,000.
Sunday’s card saw a combined total of $226,608 wagered between the early and late Pick Fours, a sum that ranks fourth all-time at Los Alamitos. The late Pick Four on Sunday night was $91,283. All in all, the six Pick Four exotics resulted in a total of $649,822 wagered over the weekend. Early April is usually a great month for Pick Four pools at Los Alamitos. The all-time record pool of $137,708 was set on Saturday, April 3. This has also been a good year for Pick Four pools, as six of the 10 highest ever have come in 2011.
Los Alamitos offers two Pick Fours each racing night. The early Pick Fours consist of races one through four. The late Pick Fours consist of the final four races on the card. The racing action continues at Los Alamitos on a Friday through Sunday basis.
