TERRY TURRELL LOS ALAMITOS QUARTERS HANDICAP, SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 19,2021

 FIRST RACE

#5 WINDANSEA going in razor-sharp form right now for Cunningham with a handy maiden score followed by a near miss going 4.5 furlongs where he opened a long lead and was just collared. #2 MOOGIE CAT returns from a Norther California invasion after being claimed from a Ferndale race where he showed the way early as he makes first start over the night track here. #3 BALLET ROYALTY no match for the top choice when they met last month, but had a trio of runner-up finishes prior to that that would put him in the picture tonight.

SECOND RACE

#2 POLAR has had a clear lead at midstretch in the last two outings at this journey and has been unable to keep the momentum going, but could prove an elusive target tonight.

#3 BLACK STORM hooked a real pro in Platinum Equity down at Del Mar last month and just missed under these conditions two back in a strong outing. #6 FAST AS CASS makes his third start following a long layoff and gets a nice drop in class for the red-hot Ruiz barn.

THIRD RACE

#2 RESTLESS RAMBLER coming off a solid exacta completion where he was overpowered by Baby Gronk, who came right back to win over the daytime strip, and gets the nod to finish the job tonight. #5 OUTLAW was a game winner in a blanket finish at Del Mar in late July while a voided claim that day and is no stranger to winning over this evening oval at this 1,000-yard journey. #4 SANTALUZ DREAMIN has been away since posting a decisive victory here in January and returns with some solid drills for new trainer Visscher with Herrera at the controls.

FOURTH RACE

#1 DAYSHEGO returns to the level where she was a nice runner-up two back under these exact conditions and is reunited with Zepeda, who was aboard for the diploma earner in June. #4 RELENTLESS TIMES put it all together in the first start off the Zamudio claim to prove a punctual 1-5 favorite and could click right back in the first try vs. winners. #6 BIG FABULOSO has been making menacing noises since returning from a slight freshening and is neatly drawn in the outside for this assignment.

FIFTH RACE

#5 ALL WAYS looks dangerous off the bench as he flashed some promise during the spring, winning a trial to the Robert Adair Kindergarten Futurity and then had a tough start in the subsequent allowance try in May. #3 JEEZ HEZ ON FIRE returns from Ruidoso for Paul Jones with Sanchez at the controls and is a another member of the cast who looks to have a bright future. #3 A POLLITICAL CANDY V finally got over the hump in his fifth attempt for the Gomez/Peinado combination and won’t have to make a big move forward to do an encore from the middle of the field.

SIXTH RACE

#2 CARLISLE CHAMP makes her first start off the claim after being bumped at the start in her last and could pay instant dividends in this spot while cutting back 50 yards for this assignment. #5 CONFUSION got away alertly in the second start after a bit of a tardy takeoff in the debut and held gamely for the graduation, no surprise if she comes right back with a big effort. #1 PLEASURE SEEKER was last seen three months ago taking his field coast-to-coast and returns at a realistic level while doing his work from the rail post this time around.

SEVENTH RACE

#2 ALESSIO has been knocking heads with winners in the last pair, including a nose loss two back, but could prove to be a handful now that he’s back in the maiden ranks for the Figueroa shedrow. #6 FASTER THAN FIRE gets some class relief as she drops from straight maiden company to a claimer and is neatly drawn on the outside for the Willoughby/Salazar combination.

EIGHTH RACE

#10 TUCKK lost a tough decision after battling every step of way at this level last month after returning from Ruidoso for Jones and should be able to make amends tonight from this comfortable outside post. #3 O DONOVAN ROSSA is exiting a pair of Derby trials at Ruidoso and is back in the Aleman barn, which sent him out for a sharp score back in December. #5 SC DIVAS CARTEL MAN Robbins trainee should benefit from that comeback race in New Mexico two months ago, which was his first appearance since competing in the Los Alamitos Two Million in December, and deserves plenty of respect.

NINTH RACE

# 4 SCREENSHOT made his debut last month in a tough trial over at Ruidoso and Robbins representative figures to be a tough customer as she brings her talents to California. #2 CMTAKEYOURLUVTOTOWN almost got the job done at 15-1 with Lozano a month ago and a repeat of that effort would make her a major player in this maiden affair. #1 MOONIN COCKTAIL makes her debut for Arrossa with some solid drills on her card.

TENTH RACE

#5 FAMOUS SHINING STAR This will be the first time this 3-year-old filly hasn’t been competing in a Futurity or a Derby trial and turned in a best of the morning drill earlier this month for Flores in his return from Ruidoso. #1 MS KO couldn’t quite match strides when things got serious as the favorite last month under these conditions and could turning things around at a better price. #4 TERRA FIRE been away since mid-January when she was competing in three straight stakes races and has been drilling smartly for the comeback while giving Flores another look at the outcome.

ELEVENTH RACE

#6 APOLLITICAL PATTY has gone some powerhouse efforts over this track for Arrossa and Cervantes, including that sensational victory in the Los Alamitos Two Million in December, and gets the top billing tonight as she faces some elders for the first time. #3 KISS THRU FIRE is a classy performer who has captured 5 of her 13 starts over this track, including the Matron in her most recent trip to the post in late July, and looms dangerous right back. #5 J BEST BOOGIE was making her first start since November when she captured that stakes race two months ago in impressive fashion and helps make this a very contentious renewal of the Mildred Vessels.
