              Kolleen Ledgerwood’s Jimbosecret and RD On Fire were two of the stars on the third morning of 2-year-old gate works on Thursday after posting their division’s first and second fastest clockings.

Trained by Roberto Dominguez, Jimbosecret had the top work of :12.3 at 220 yards. The No Secrets Here colt is out of Rare Encore, the winner of the Grade 3 Cherry Creek Futurity and $60,752 in her racing career. Race Encore has produced Tsunami Splash, a winner of $101,529 and a finalist to the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity, Los Alamitos Winter Derby and Southern California Derby. She also produced Rare Bac, who ran in the El Primero Del Ano Derby. Jimbosecret’s sire is the 2006 All American Futurity winner No Secrets Here. He was part of a memorable class that also included millionaires Blues Girl Too, Jess You And I, and FDD Dynasty.

Also trained by Dominguez, RD On Fire worked in company with Jimbosecret and finished just a tick of the watch behind him in a time of :12.4. The Walk Thru Fire colt is out of Fames Easy, a prolific dam whose foals have included the four-time Grade 1 finalist Dont Dink With Me, the grade 1 stakes placed mare Miss Kittys Bar Bet, the 2005 Governor’s Cup  Futurity runner-up Ynot Bar, and multiple Grade 1 stakes placed runner The One I Am, and the stakes winner Stel Easy. Fames Easy is the daughter of the mare Mighty Easy Pass, the winner of the Grade 1 Denim N Diamonds Futurity at Los Alamitos in 1989 and runner-up in that year’s Grade 1 Dash For Cash Futurity also at Los Alamitos. Mighty Easy Pass, who also ran in the Grade 1 Kindergarten Futurity, earned nearly $280,000 in her outstanding career.

Trainer Jose Flores unveiled several quality freshman on Thursday morning starting with S-Quarter K Racing’s Sheza Dashing Pyc, Washington-bred filly by Pyc Paint Your Wagon, who worked in :12.4 on Thursday. Sheza Dashing Pyc is out of First Down Dream, who is the mother of Ima Chickie Two, the winner of the 2011 PCQHRA Breeders Futurity and 2012 PCQHRA Breeders Derby and $346,598. First Down Dream a descendant of the Tinys Rose Bud, a winner of nearly $240,000. Also from the Flores’ barn, Jess Wong worked evenly with Sheza Dashing Pyc in a time of :12.4. The California-bred filly is by One Sweet Jess and out of Attack The Cartel, a stakes winner at Los Alamitos of $49,990.

Flores also trained the duo of Jess Motions and Rojitas Cartel, a pair of fillies that posted equal :12.7 clockings on Thursday. Jess Motions is a daughter of Apollitical Jess out of Royal Motions. She’s a full-sister to Jess A Pollitician, a winner of $229,154 at Los Alamitos after running third in the 2017 Los Alamitos Winter Championship and fifth in the 2015 Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity for Flores and owner Janet McKinnerney. Rojitas Cartel is by Special Cartel and out of Bsimjumpn, a young broodmare from the family of multiple graded stakes winner Jumpn Tac Flash and blue-hen mare Beat Your Pants Off. Jumpn Tac Flash won the Grade 2 Miss Kindergarten Futurity and Grade 3 California Sires Cup Futurity and was second in the Grade 1 Dash For Cash Futurity – all at Los Alamitos in 1993.

Flores also worked Favorite Motions, Favorite First and Paddys Princess – all three recording time of :12.6. The Favorite Cartel colt Favorite Motions is out of Mia Ta Fame, the runner-up in the Grade 2 Silver Dollar Futurity in 2002. Mia Ta Fame has produced several stars in the Intermountain region, headed by Richard Frandsen’s Decati, a winner of 13 races, 3 stakes, and over $276,000. Decati finished third in the 2008 All American Derby. Mia Ta Fame is also the mother of Frandsen’s two-time stakes winner SS Paydirt ($134,ooo). Favorita First is a filly by Favorite Cartel and out of Eyell Fool Ya, the stakes winner of the Easily A Possum Classic in Mexico City, while Paddys Princess is another filly by Favorite Cartel out of Ms Paddy. Paddys Princess’ granddam is Paddy Chick, who earned $96,000 while running in the Grade 1 PCQHRA Breeders Futurity in 2001 and also qualifying to the Grade 1 Ed Burke Memorial Futurity and Grade 1 Golden State Futurity.

Trained by Valentin Zamudio, Im Rocket Man also worked in :12.6 on Thursday. He is a colt by AQHA World Champion One Dashing Eagle and out of DLT Runaway, the winner of the 2009 My Debut Handicap at Los Alamitos.
