Jockey Cesar Gomez was among two people found dead from an airplane crash in rural Oklahoma on Monday.                                        

According to a report on, the airplane was located at about 7 a.m. on Monday between Hydro and Hinton in Caddo County, Oklahoma. Both people aboard the plane were pronounced dead at the scene, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

            Since 2014, Gomez rode the winners of 246 Quarter Horse races from 1,401 mounts that have earned $5,495,119. Gomez won the 2015 All American Gold Cup (G1) at Ruidoso Downs aboard Rock You, the 2017 Bob Moore Memorial Stakes (G2) aboard champion The Fiscal Cliff; the 2016 Dash For Cash Derby (G3) on Tellereyemathebar; the 2017 Adequan Derby Challenge Championship (G3) on Dauns First Desirio; and the 2015 John Deere Ruidoso Juvenile Challenge (G3) on Queen Catherine. Gomez was scheduled to ride Ditto Head in Saturday’s Grade 3 El Primero Del Ano Derby. He rode Ditto Head in the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity last year and in this year’s Los Alamitos Winter Derby. He ranked seventh in the current Quarter Horse jockey standings.
