In the morning of March 20, Mike Robbins worked a three-horse set for Reliance Ranches LLC at Los Alamitos consisting of the fillies Conquering Marie, SC Coronada, and Pack Light.

Of the three, Conquering Marie was the first to debut and she came out a winner by 1 ¼ lengths on Saturday, April 7. SC Coronada was next and she won on the following night, as she posted a 1 ¾ length victory in a time of :15.532, which is the fastest clocking by a 2-year-old so far this season.

The third member of that drill was Pack Light, a filly by One Famous Eagle and out of the Corona For Me broodmare Back In The Pack. She made it a perfect three for three for those Reliance Ranches’ fillies after winning the sixth race on Friday night at Los Alamitos. Ridden by Oscar Peinado, Pack Light returned $11.80 for the win while covering the 300 yards in :15.684. Talk about a productive work with three runners all debuting with victories.

Pack Light’s dam, Back In the Pack, was a solid runner in her career. She earned  $131,831 and won her trials to the All American, Rainbow, and Oklahoma futurities in 2011. She won the All American Juvenile Invitational and was second in the Rainbow Futurity. She’s eligible to race in the Robert Adair Kindergarten Futurity trials on May 6, just like the Conquering Marie and SC Coronada.

In the two other races for 2-year-olds, EG High Desert Farms’ homebred Fast Amanda Rose (photo) lived up to her name in the fifth race on Friday night after covering the 300 yards in :15.552. Fast Amanda Rose is from the outstanding family of Harems Choice, which includes 1991 All American Futurity winner Royal Quick Dash, 1998 Ed Burke Million Futurity winner First Sovereign, and 2003 Los Alamitos Million Futurity winner A Regal Choice. Jonathan Roman piloted Fast Amanda Rose for trainer Jesus Nunez.

Dennis Jensen and Randy Young’s Budbreak outdueled Marin Jones and Steve McIntyre’s Cole Man 47 by a head in a fast time time of :15.561 to win the other race for juveniles. Purchased for $22,000 at the Los Alamitos Equine Sale, Budbreak is a gelding by FDD Dynasty and out of Paint Your Beau, who ran in the Remington Park Oklahoma Bred Futurity.  Budbreak is from the family of Ruidoso Futurity winner Okey Dokey Fantasy ($576,521), Fast Debonair ($455,658) and 2004 Los Alamitos Maiden Stakes winner Royal Medallion.  Eduardo Nicasio piloted the Tyler Ranch-bred runner for trainer Monty Arrossa.
