Scott McDaniel went to the yearling sale auctions in 2017 looking for the best runner he could find featuring the bloodlines of Heza Fast Man. McDaniel’s search was guided in part by the sentimental reason that his family, led by Michael Van Hastings and racing under the nom de course of San Tan Tillage, had campaigned Heza Fast Man to a great racing career in the early 1990s. An AQHAchampion, Heza Fast Man was a major stakes winner who was the runner-up by a nose to A Classic Dash in the Grade 1 All American Futurity in 1993. Hastings also raced

            McDaniel’s search led him to First Lady Perry, filly by Mr Jess Perry and out of the Heza Fast Man broodmare First Lady Amber.  In her racing debut First Lady Perry ran lights out at odds of 31-1 and finished a game second to Terrific First Down in a maiden race on June 23 a Los Alamitos.Shell make her second career start when she leads a talented group of 2-year-olds in Fridays eighth race at Los Alamitos. The field will also feature the debut of Sassy On Fire, who trainer Mike Robbins once singled out as one of the most promising 2-year-olds in his stable. Las Dos Coronas, a full sister to multiple Los Alamitos stakes winner Jess Ravin will also be in action.

            In Friday’s third race, Maria Rodriguez’s Victoriously Jewel will be going after her fourth consecutive victory. The 9-year-old mare has won 13 of 40 career starts.
