Runner-up in her first two career starts, Reliance Ranches’ Jessafamouslady enjoyed her first career victory after a tremendous effort from the outside post netted her a 1 ½ length victory in the seventh on Friday night at Los Alamitos.

Ridden by Ruben Castro for trainer Mike Robbins, Jessafamouslady was on the lead right from the start and she was never challenged from there on the way to covering the 300-yard race in :15.804. The filly by Mr Jess Perry started her career by running second by a head to Hold The Flash on April 14 before running second to Mental Error in a trial to the Grade 2 Robert Adair Kindergarten Futurity. Mental Error qualified to the Kindergarten Futurity from that trial, while Jessafamouslady missed making the top 10 by about 9/100ths of a second.

There were no seconds of any type of Friday night, as the Louisiana-bred princess dominated every step of the way. The future certainly looks bright for the Jon and Donna McPherson-bred filly, as she’s nominated to several major races at Los Alamitos. She’s in the Golden State Million Futurity, Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity and next year’s Los Alamitos Super Derby.

Jessafamouslady was purchased by Reliance Ranches for $230,000 at the 2018 Ruidoso Yearling Sale, where she was among the highest sellers. Consigned to the sale by Grant Farms, she’s out of Famous Corona Lady, the dam of Ruidoso Futurity third-place finisher Jest Famous. Her dam is a full sister to champion and millionaire One Famous Eagle. Famous Corona Lady qualified to the 2015 All American Derby.

In the evening’s other race for 2-year-olds, Eddie Garcia, this track’s all-time leading Quarter Horse rider, guided Ron Hartley’s If That Aint Country to a 1 ½ length victory in a time of :16.05. The Separate Interest gelding was earning his first victory in three starts. He had previously finished third on May 11 and fourth on April 19, both against maiden rivals. John Cooper saddled the homebred runner out of Forgotten Dynasty.
