GATE WORK SUNDAY, MARCH 7

RACE  5 – CLAIMING $8,000 – 3 YEAR OLS & UP at 330 YARDS

#4 Willy B Gone – February 6 :17.90 at 350 yards

Solo Work: He was moving head a bit before the start but settled nicely and was prepared for the start of the work. He came away sharply and was fast into his stride. His rider hustled him during the early part and he responded with a smooth, strong stride past the gap. He was under a hand-ride from there, was flagged right-handed once, and continued solidly to the finish line and past the wire to the top of the clubhouse turn. His time was the fastest of four on February 6.

#5 Hawks Valentine - February 2 :18.50 at 350 yards

Solo Work: Used a flipping halter in his work, coming away cleanly but a tad slow. It took him about 50 yards to get rolling and looked solid from there. Looked good at the gap, was asked once for a bit more and continued solidly to the wire. He showed good energy during his gallop out.

RACE  6 – EL PRIMERO DERBY TRIAL – 3 YEAR OLS  at 400 YARDS

#2 Favorite Colossus – January 28 :18.10 at 350 yards

Inside Horse: He was much the best when breaking from the inside post as part of a three-horse set when taking on Speighster and Fabulous Boy in this drill. He was fast out the gate, took one step to the inside and then came back out. He stayed on a straight path from there, leaving his rivals far behind while full of run under a very light hand ride. He continued powerfully to the wire and continued to display a ton of high octane all the way around the clubhouse turn. He’s had a knack for impressive morning works and was one of the fastest qualifiers to the Governor’s Cup Futurity last year.

#5 BF Outfoosed – February 20 :17.90 at 350 yards

Solo Work: Was a tad rambunctious in the starting gate but settled down in time to come away quickly. He began to drift in before the gap, but by then he was striding out powerfully and continued to move fast all the way to the wire. He continued to show power past the wire before starting to slow down around the clubhouse turn. His time was the fastest of eight on busy February 20 morning of works.

#9 Suite Encounter – February 13  :19.0 at 350 yards

Solo Work: Had his head slightly turned to the side before staring straight ahead just as the gates opened. He rubbed the right side of the gate leaving there but came away running well. Was asked left-handed and responded by shifting slight out. He was hand ridden hard for the rest of the second half of the work and looked okay during his gallop out.

RACE  8 – EL PRIMERO DERBY TRIAL – 3 YEAR OLS  400 YARDS

#3 Jumpn JB – January 5  :12.70 at 220 yards

Solo Work: Broke swiftly and was gliding over the racetrack early on. He was flying at the midway point before drifting out as he approached the wire. Jumpn JB did the work under a light hold the entire way. After the wire, he continued with a solid gallop out while remaining under a hold.

#8 Bold Eagle – February 16  :18.60 at 350 yards

Outside Horse: Was part of a three-horse set that included Wheaton, a mare that was set to make her racing debut on Saturday evening. Bold Eagle had a clean start, broke in and then came back to the outside. He was asked for more and responded by making up a lot of ground late to just miss catching La Del Jazz at the wire. He continued with a strong gallop from there.
