Here’s my opinion of the top 10 Quarter Horse juveniles that have already raced at Los Alamitos this season. There are four newcomers to the list including a trio of weekend winners for trainer Paul Jones. They include Griffindore, who I move up to number one after daylight maiden victory, plus Majority Interest and Lukka. All three runners won at 300 yards. The Jose Flores-trained Good Reason To Run is also added to the list after her quick victory on Friday night. The trials to the track’s first futurity, the Grade 2 Robert Adair Kindergarten, will take place on Sunday, April 25.

1. Griffindore – Colt by Corona Cartel is a full brother to Grade 1 winner Uncle D. He won his debut at 300 yards while under a hand-ride on April 9. He drifted in that race and still won by daylight while under a big hold in final 50 yards.

2. Valente One – Son of Corona Cartel won his debut by a ½ length at 220 yards against top rated Jess Hez On Fire. His gate work before his first start came against Red Hot Topic, who returned to win here on Saturday night.

3. Majority Interest – Seperate Interest filly’s first start was a winning one at 300 yards and her final time was about 5/100ths of a second faster than Griffindore, but she was asked a couple early in the race. Out of the Dam of Distinction broodmare Remember Me Rose, filly is a half-sister to Grade 1 winners Powerful Favorite and Runforyourlife.

4. La Blue Amore – Filly won gate to wire by 1 ¼ lengths in a fast :12.212. She is by  Kiddy Up  and out of the graded stakes placed mare Amore La Blue from the family of the great AQHA World Champion and Champions of Champions winner Blues Girl Too.

5. New And Better – By freshman sire Fly Thru The Fire, he overcame trouble to win racing debut. He’s a half-brother to Grade 2 derby winner New Look and Grade 1 finalist Renewed.

6. Good Reason To Run – Filly by AQHA champion stallion Good Reason SA, who won the Champion of Champions here. Her time was a sharp 12.159 when winning by a neck over 4-5 favorite New York Teller MRL on Friday night.

7. Unavailable – Was bumped at the start but held off Woman Secrets in debut, who returned to win at 300 yards. His sire is All American Futurity winner Sire Jess Good Candy and dam is a full-sister to 2007 World Champion and multiple Grade 1 winner Blues Girl Too.

8. Quarrelsome – Fly Thru The Fire gelding was an easy debut winner when scoring a 1 ¼ length victory over a field that included Southern Best, who returned to win in strong fashion in a time of :12.209. As a result of that, I moved him ahead of Docs Fastlane. Quarrelsome’s dam is the Grade 1 winning champion Quirky.

9. Docs Fastlane – Found early trouble but still posted meet’s fastest 220 time in win. Son of Docs Best Card is out of the black type stakes winning Thoroughbred mare Bev’s Fast Lane.

10t. Lukka – His winning time at 300 yards was a solid :15.986, but the son of the Thoroughbred Favorite Trick looked stronger with each stride and now has valuable experience at the 300-yard distance.

10t. Mookkie - Strong finish in debut and his sire Hez Our Secret was outstanding at 400 & 440 yards. Bred by the late John Andreini, his dam, Gotcha Bella, qualified to the Golden State Million Futurity in 2015.

Others to watch: New York Teller MRL, Women Secrets, Set For It, Powerhouse, FG Jess Seis, Watch Out, Commander Cartel, Southern Best, Hitters County, and Nevada Charles.
