LOS ALAMITOS ADDS TWO NEW $30,000 RACES
AT 1,000 YARDS TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 27
Los Alamitos Race Course has added two brand new $30,000 feature races at 1,000 yards to be held on same night as its previously announced $50,000 final at this distance on Saturday, November 27.
Of the two new races, one of them will be strictly for fillies and mares. All three of these feature events at 1,000 yards are for 3-year-olds and up.
Horses competing at either the 1,000 or 870 yards at the Orange County oval will be able to qualify to the new $30,000 races by earning points during the current meet using the point system already in place for the $50,000 final. Each of the three races will not exceed 10 horses and Quarter Horses are preferred in each of the three races. Horses will qualify to the races via the following conditions:
For the $50,000 final, the top 10-point earners by the end of Sunday, November 21 for 3-year-olds and up will be eligible. There will be an also eligible list based on the point standings with the 11th ranked horses based on points being first eligible, etc. Quarter Horses are preferred.
For the $30,000 feature, the next 10 horses, presumably horses ranked 11th through 20th in the point standings, will be eligible. The horse ranked 21st in the point standings will be next in line to enter this race, etc. Quarter Horses are preferred.
For the $30,000 feature for fillies and mares, the top 10-point earning female runners will be eligible. If additional starting spots open, the filly or mare with the next highest number of points will be eligible. Similarly, Quarter Horse fillies and mares are preferred.
The point system is simple: each dollar earned at any class level in races held at 1,000 and 870-yards will equal to one point. Horses began earning points here on Friday, March 12 with the last night to earn points set for Sunday, November 21.
Point standings will be available at LosAlamitos.com as well as in the racing office at Los Alamitos Race Course. The track’s official printed program, Night Lines, will also list the point standings each week.
