GATE WORKS – SATURDAY, OCTOBER 16

RACE 4 – MAIDEN - 2 YEAR OLD FILLIES - 300 YARDS

#6 Tapatia Sports August 31  :12.2 at 220 yards

Inside Horse: Mexico-bred runner will make his racing debut after working twice with good results. He went in :12.5 on September 18 and had the bullet drill of 12.2 on August 31. In that August spin, she traveled from the outside post without blinkers vs. The Sarandeado Boots. Tapatia Sports was a bit hot and spicy in the starting gate but left there in a hurry while dueling with her rival. She was asked right-handed and responded nicely, pulling away from her foe while eating up ground impressively. She continued showing good quickness after the wire before slowing around the turn.

#8 Carisma Vista September 28 :12.5 at 220 yards

Outside Horse:  Good Reason SA filly will make her career debut after returning to training following a summer break. The filly first work from the gate in March and her last three works have come since August 31. She enters this race after outworking her inside rival Sniptious in :12.5 vs. 13.0. She broke fast but had to corrected as she was drifting towards the inside. She continued with her head tilted out while showing a ton of speed. Carisma Vista pulled away from her rival easily, straightened out and looked good in the final 50 yards. She continued with a quick gallop before slowing around the turn.    

RACE 5 – MAIDEN - 2 YEAR OLDS - 300 YARDS

#2 La Talia September 18 :12.7 at 220 yards

Solo Work: Filly by Chicks Regard will make her racing debut after posting an easy-going solo drill in :12.7 on September 18. She was sluggish out of the gate and broke low to the ground before picking up her stride. She moved a steady pace from there while under a hold and continued with a solid effort for the rest of her drill. She then posted the fastest of seven works on October 1. The video of that work is not available.

#8 Stel Style September 28 :12.3 at 220 yards

Solo Work: Stel Corona colt will make his first start after working from the outside post in :12.3 when going evenly with Special On The Moon, who will make his debut in Saturday’s fourth race. Stel Style lunged towards the inside and nearly brushed with his inside rival before quickly leveling out. He was hustled early and responded to the urging, moving ahead of Special On The Moon after the midway point. He crossed the wire just ahead of his rival before going under wraps around the turn.   

RACE 6 – LOS ALAMITOS SUPER DERBY TRIALS- 3 YEAR OLDS - 400 YARDS

#1 Counting The Ways September 21 :17.9 at 350 yards

Solo Work: Multiple stakes finalist returns to action for the first time since running a strong third to Favorite Colossus in the Governor’s Cup Derby on August 1. The Favorite Cartel gelding worked with no blinkers in this 350-yard drill when leaving the gate at a leisurely pace before continuing to pick up speed to the gap. He glided from there, looking very comfortable while under a light hold as he continued moving smoothly to the wire and throughout his gallop out to the tune of :17.9 clocking.

#8 Fallout September 28 :12.6 at 220 yards

Solo Work: Favorite Cartel gelding returns to action after a highly troubled race at Ruidoso Downs back on August 22. Fallout posted a 12.60 work in this solo drill after scrambling out of the gate, while looking a tad slow during the early part of the work. He was under a hold but asked a couple of times right-handed. He continued moving at a steady pace to the finish line while displaying good energy around the turn.   

RACE 8 – LOS ALAMITOS SUPER DERBY TRIALS- 3 YEAR OLDS - 400 YARDS

#1 Doc Lamb September 28 :18.0 at 220 yards

Solo Work: Multiple Grade 1 finalist is back in action for the first time since running in the Los Alamitos Winter Derby on February 13. He was quick out of the gate while breaking slightly towards the inside. He was hustled early on while continuing to float inside. He maintained a fast stride, looked great across the wire and followed quickly after the wire before slowing around the turn.  

RACE 10  – LOS ALAMITOS SUPER DERBY TRIALS- 3 YEAR OLDS - 400 YARDS

#2 Karl Strauss September 28 :12.10 at 220 yards

Solo Work: A crafty colt by Foose returns to California after a two-race stint in New Mexico where he qualified to the Ruidoso Derby. He enters this race after brewing a fast 12.10 solo drill on September 28. He was fast out of the gate and was hand-ridden right away as he responded with a stout effort throughout. He looked razor sharp across the wire and continued with a lasting gallop out in an overall strong effort.

#4 Just A Dasha Hero – September 18 :18.20 at 350 yards

Inside Horse: A full brother to the millionaire Ima Fearless Hero, Just A Dasha Hero is making his first start in over 13 months. He’s posted four official timed works since then including three outings since August 7. His last work was this solo drill when outworking A New Day in :18.20 vs. :19.4. The Washington-bred flew out of the gate, but was very rough to ride from there. He shifted outwardly and then in before finally leveling at the gap. He was all business from there, leading by a huge margin before continuing easily past the wire.  

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 17

RACE 5 – MAIDEN - 2 YEAR OLD FILLIES - 300 YARDS 

#1 The Rite Path September 18 :13.1 at 220 yards

Outside Horse: $30,000 purchase at Ruidoso Yearling will make her local debut after finishing out of the money in Rainbow trial race at a Ruidoso Downs. Was outworked here on September 18 when moving from moving from the outside post vs. First Eye Of Dynasty. She bobbled a smidge leaving the gate before recovering quickly. She floated towards the inside, lacked acceleration and continued at the pace from there on September 18.

#5 Special On The Moon September 28 :12.3 at 220 yards

Inside Horse: First Moonflash filly will make her first career start after working evenly from the inside post vs. Stel Style in :12.3. She broke okay but rapidly picked up speed, moving past the gap with a slight advantage over Stel Style. The two continued gamely with Special On The Moon being lightly hand-ridden. She was not pushed in the late going and finished just a tad behind Stel Style in this 220 yard drill. She was under a big hold around the clubhouse turn.  

#7 Favorite Feline September 25 :12.6 at 220 yards

Outside Horse: Purchased for $45,000 at the Los Alamitos Equine Sale, she’ll be making her career debut after working from the outside as part of a three-horse set on September 25. The Favorite Cartel filly took a slight hope leaving, was behind her inside rival named Fussy but she picked up speed while being flagged right-handed. She was moving nicely in the final 50 yards, crossing the wire a head behind Fussy. She continued with good energy before slowing at the top of the clubhouse turn.   

RACE 8 – ALLOWANCE – 2-YEAR-OLDS – 300 YARDS

#4 Fast Thru Fire – September 28  :12.3 at 220 yards

Solo Work: She’ll be making her third career start and first since May 30th when taking on a group that featured PCQHRA Breeders Futurity finalist Corona Yo in an Ed Burke Million trial on May 30. Fast Thru Fire is also a full sister to Kindergarten winner Fire Fast Honey and half to PCQHRA Breeders Futurity winner Favorite Honey. Fast Thru Fire stood nicely in the gate but bobbled leaving there. She drifted to the inside steadily, was corrected left-handed and finished with ample energy. Her siblings have been outstanding this season.  

#5 Zzzuuum Zoom – September 28 :12.3 at 220 yards

Solo Work: A maiden winner in early May, the Favorite Cartel filly is making her first start since a trial to the Ed Burke Million on May 30th and her third overall outing. She faced Grade 1 winner Golden Boi in that late May effort. in She enters here after posting  this solo work three weeks ago when hopping before leaving the gate and then going towards the inside right away. She continued moving in and ended up right next to the fence before moving back out and leveling her stride. She was hand-ridden to the wire, continued with good motion and finished with the 3rd fastest of 12 drills.

RACE 9 – ALLOWANCE – 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP – 110 YARDS

#9 Zoomin For Spuds – September 21 :12.10 at 220 yards

Solo Work: Champion and multiple Grade 1 winner is back for his first start since January 24. The classy veteran broke alertly before drifting inside. He was hand-ridden early, asked once left-handed and he continued nicely from there, oozing class through the wire.
