FILLY PURCHASED FOR $300,000 TOPS STRONG OPENING SESSION OF LOS ALAMITOS EQUINE SALE
Purchased by Taos River Ranch LLC for $300,000 from the Burns Ranch consignment, Hip 111, Allways Remember, was the opening session sale-topper at the 2022 Los Alamitos Equine Sale on Saturday afternoon.
Sired by Favorite Cartel and out of the AQHA Dam of Distinction Remember Me Rose, Allways Remember (photo) is a full sister to four Grade 1 winners, including the millionaire Powerful Favorite and 2021 Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity winner Bomb Cyclone. Cyber Monday and Runforyourlife are the two other Grade 1 futurity winners from this outstanding crop of Favorite Cartel and Remember Me Rose.
The first of two sessions of the Los Alamitos Equine Sale reported 85 yearlings purchased for a total of $2,522,700 on Saturday. The figure represents a $29,679 yearling sale average for the opening session, an increase of 15.27% from the yearling sale average for the first session in 2021. This year’s Saturday session also had 11 mares go for $307,500 for an average of $27,955. Overall, 98 hips sold for $2,873,200 for an average of $29,318 – up for 14% from the total figures on the first session in 2021.
David Hinkins purchased Hip 57, Twice Over, for $167,000 to make him the second highest seller on the Saturday session. Bred by Ed Allred, Twice Over is a colt by Favorite Cartel out of the outstanding producer Look Her Over. Twice Over is a half-brother to 2019 AQHA World Champion He Looks Hot and Grade 1 winner Once Over.
La Feliz Montana Ranch LLC paid $130,000 for Hip 112, Fraudster, a full brother to session topper Allways Remember. A colt by Favorite Cartel and out of Remember Me Rose, Fraudster is from the consignment of Burns Ranch. Other high selling yearlings on Saturday included the Favorite Cartel colts Mask Mandate (Hip 106) and King Apache (Hip 55).
Purchased by Ricardo Ramirez for $80,000, the Allred-bred Mask Mandate is out of the AQHA champion aged mare Quirky. Ray Willis paid $80,000 for King Apache, whose dam is Grade 1 stakes finalist Jess Mas. King Apache is from the Burns Ranch consignment.
Cade Burns purchased Hip 73, Look At Her, for $100,000 from Veronica Gail Kawananakoa to make her top selling broodmare of the session. Look At Her sold in foal to the sensational stallion Apollitical Jess. Look At Her is a daughter of Walk Thru Fire and out of Look Her Over.

The second session will start at 11 a.m. (PDT) on Sunday and will feature Hips 126 through 250. The sale program will include broodmares in this session entering the sale ring from Hip 195 through Hip 213. The yearlings and mixed stock will then return with Hip 214 through 250.
