NYMPHETTE OUTDUELS TOP MARES IN DENIM N DIAMONDS

Away cleanly multiple stakes winner Nymphette took a quick lead then held off a late charge from stablemate Miss Isao Jqm to win the $35,000 Denim N Diamonds Handicap Saturday night at Los Alamitos Race Course.

Under jockey Oscar Peinado Nymphette raced over 350 yards in 17.577 seconds, equaling a 96-speed index. It was the fourth career win and third stakes victory for the daughter of multiple stakes sire Fly Thru The Fire.

James Glenn, Jr. trains the 6-year-old mare for owner=breeder Edward C. Allred. Bred in California from the Foose mare Nymph, Nymphette used the winers purse to boost her bankroll to $178,420.  She has also won the California Breeders Matron Staks(RG3) and the California Breeders Debutante Stakes.

Runner-up Miss Isao Jqm, the AQHA Racing South American Champion in 2022 and winner of the Dashingly Handicap at Los Alamitos last month, earned $7,875.  

The post-time favorite, a daughter of leading sire Mr Jess Perry, was bumped early under jockey Eduardo Nicasio but rallied for second. Glenn saddled the 6-year-old mare for owner-breeder Pedro Barbizan Santiago Leite. The earner of nearly $170,000 is out of the Corona Cartel mare Cortona Cartel.

Coming off a second-place effort in the Dashingly Handicap in her last start, the royally-bred Temple Court finished half-a-length back to earn $4,375. Trainer Michael Casselman tapped jockey Ruben Lozano to ride the full sister to five Grade 1 winners, including champion Cyber Attack. Steve Burns, DVM, is the owner-breeder of the 5-year-old Favorite Cartel mare out of Remember Me Rose by Corona Cartel. She has banked $107,505.

Budderhomesngarden, Famous Cartel Jessy, Rock With Energy, West Texas Prize and Magic Folly completed the field. Milargo Lady was scratched.
