FASTEST QUALIFIER WINS MAIDEN STAKES FINAL
Fastest qualifier from the trials, Outtasyght, burst from the gates on Sunday evening and dominated the 350-yard race, winning the $97,500 Los Alamitos Maiden Stakes finals. This stakes race is held for three-year-olds who had not broken their maiden as of November 2024.
Ridden by Armando Cervantes, Outtasyght crossed the wire in 17.583 seconds with a 95-speed index, defeating Invasive by 3/4-length. The post-time favorite's effort paid $3.80 to win on 4-5 odds.
The wire-to-wire victory marks Outtasyght's third career win from six starts, including his first-place finish in the Los Al Maiden Stakes trials and the Los Al Two Million trials, where he returned for the Los Al Two Million Juvenile finals and finished in fourth place.
Invasive, piloted by Edwin Escobedo, broke in on the inside, vying for the win but fell short for second. Cm Jesse B A Cowboy and jockey Ruben Lozano crossed the wire 3/4-length back for third.
The $40,950 winner's share of the purse boosted Outtasyght's career earnings to $52,663. Trainer Monty Arrossa saddled the son of leading sire Apollitical Jess for owner Dunn Ranch, who purchased him for $320,000 in the 2023 Heritage Place Yearling Sale.
Bred in Texas by Bobby D. Cox, Outtasyght is out of the stakes placed mare Eye Popping by Mr Eye Opener. He is a half-brother to All American Derby winner Instygator and Heritage Place Futurity winner Shott Gun.
Trainer Marc Jungers conditions runner-up Invasive for owners Tungsten Racing Partnership, Pavon Racing LLC, Empire Racing and Heysol Howlet. The son of leading sire Favorite Cartel has one win from eight starts and doubled his earnings to $32,850 after cashing in the check for second.
Burns Ranch bred the $102,000 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale graduate in California out of Dont Pass Bar by A Regal Choice. Invasive is a half-brother to champion Quirky.
Third-place finisher Cm Jesse B A Cowboy has yet to break his maiden from seven starts and has earned $16,832 for owner/breeder Randy Dickerson. Luke Lindsey trains the son of #1 leading third-year-sire Flying Cowboy 123. He is out of Cm Mo Baby by Dash Ta Fame.
